 Organic Photonics & Electronics

The inherent versality of organic compounds promises their wide applications in photonics and electronics. The 1D nanostructures can efficiently confine and directionally transport photons, serving as active optical waveguides and microcavities. The photophysical and photochemical transistions bring unique functionalities by the generation of excitons (strongly coupled electron-hole pairs). The stable exciton-photon coupling at room temperature features the organic photonic materials and devices from their inorganic couterparts. The investigation of light-matter interaction can also helps in overcoming the challenges in organic electronics and opto-electronics.
