  • 2011: Has been elected as an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Research Interests and Awards

  His research focuses on semiconductor photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants and the mechanism; photodegradation of organic pollutants via activation of O2 or H2O2 by transition metal complexes; photochemical cycling of iron species and the relative environmental processes; photocatalytic selective oxidation of organic compounds; photofunctional nanomaterials. He has published over 220 papers on the international journals such as J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Environ. Sci. Technol., Chem. Soc. Rev. and has 23 authorized invention patents. The publications have been cited over 11000 times by others. The selected awards are as follows:

  • 2005  The Second Grade National Prize of Natural Science of China (the first contributor);  
  • 2010  Japanese Photochemistry Association Lectureship Award for Asian and Oceanian Photochemist;
  • 2002  The Award of Excellent Young Scientist of Chinese Academy of Sciences-Bayer (Germany);
  • 2002  The First Grade Prize of Science and Technology in Beijing (Natural Science)
  • 2002  The Second Grade Military progress prize in science and technology
  • 1997  National Natural Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scientists
