Welcome to Prof. Qihe Zhu's Group

Research in the Prof. Zhu's group focuses on the molecular reaction dynamics, mainly on the Photodissociation and Photoionization dynamics.

Photodissociation dynamics: The photodissociation dynamics of vibrationally excited molecule is an important part of the state-state molecular reaction dynamics, and is the important basis of the control of chemical reaction. Compared to the ground state molecules, the photodissociation dynamics of vibrationally excited molecules often show signicantly different. Using our homebuilt high resolution mini-TOF photofragment translational spectrometer, we investigate the photodissociation of the RI molucule excited by mid-far IR laser for the slected vibrational mode, such as C-I, C-H, C-C stretching. By analyzing these photodissociation translational spectra, various important dynamic information will be obtained, such as the branching ratios, the partitioning of the available energy, the internal state distribution of the fragments, the transformation of the original vibrational excition.

Photoionization dynamics: Benzene derivatives containing oxygen or nitrogen atom play a very important role in the pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and new materials. They have been the frequent subject of the molecular science studies. In our lab, we use UV-IR lasers to study the information of the S0, S1, and D0 states of such molecules throug REMPI (Resonance Enhanced Multiphoton iIoniazation Spectroscopy), MATI (  Mass-Analyzed Threshold  inization Spectroscopy), IR-UV( Infrared–Ultraviolet Double-Resonance Spectroscopy) etc., to study the vertical transition energy, the ionization energy, the vibrational information and geometry of the molecules at different electronic states, and so on.
